Nanyombi Lubimbi earned her PhD in Nursing Science at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). She earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in Biology from Notre Dame of Maryland University, a Bachelors in Nursing Science from the University of Maryland, a Masters in Nursing Science with a concentration in Nursing Administration from Notre Dame of Maryland University, a Certificate in Public Health Management from University of Illinois at Chicago and
a Certificate as a Global Nurse Consultant by the International Council of Nursing.
Dr. Lubimbi has been a nurse for almost 20 years with extensive experience as a medical surgical nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital and clinical educator in the US and internationally. For four years, she worked as a global health nurse for the Rwanda Human Resources for Health program through UIC, College of Nursing. Dr. Lubimbi’s contributions to global health nursing include co-author of a publication on Building Nursing and Midwifery Capacity through Rwanda Human Resources for Health Program in the Journal of Transcultural Nursing, Measuring for Success: Evaluating Leadership Training Programs for Sustainable Impact in the Annual of Global Health Journal and a podium presentation on structured learning for nursing students at a Rwanda teaching and referral hospital at Sigma Theta Tau International’s 28th International Nursing Congress in South Africa, 2017. She currently serves on the Academic Partnerhsip Program Initiative Committee, and previously served on the Trainee Advisory Committee, Workforce Subcommittee, and the Technical and Analytic Resources Committee for the Consortium of Universities for Global Health.
Dr. Lubimbi's long-term goal is to develop empirically based recommendations that will guide global health nurse leaders to engage in equitable partnerships that promote the sustainability of global health programs in low-resource settings.
