As a native Ugandan, I have always been cognizant of the challenges that affect the healthcare systems and patient outcomes in low-to middle-income countries. After completing my Masters degree in Nursing, I became increasingly interested to pursue a career as a global health nurse. At that point, I was confident with the knowledge and skills I gained while practicing as a Staff Nurse and Clinical Educator. I wanted to make contributions towards developing and managing global health initiates that are designed to improve healthcare delivery/systems in resource limited settings.

I got an oppotunity to work in Rwanda for a period of one year. However, I enjoyed the work so much that I stayed for four years. I worked for the Human Resources for Health program in Rwanda through the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Nursing from 2013 to 2017. In the feild, I worked with some of the most amazing Rwandan, American and International nurses who inspired me to work hard despite of any challenges we encountered. This was one of the most fulfilling experiences in my nursing career.
